July Reads and Recommendations

July was a hot one here in Texas, so I spent a lot of time with my nose in a book. To be fair, I would have been spending a lot of time reading anyway. What can I say, it’s my passion.

Mending the Perfect Marriage by Bella Ricks

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I was impressed with how this book played out. I have been that mom/wife who finds herself totally lost. What a beautiful and encouraging story about fighting your way back. So many times, people just give up, so it is refreshing to see them work through REAL relatable issues and come out stronger than ever. Great read!

This was an ARC that I read, and I really enjoyed it.

The Four Bears Construction Series: This series is M/M

Book 1

Caulky by K.M. Neuhold

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is book 1 of the series, and the first book I’ve read by this author. I really enjoyed this book. It was interesting watching the chemistry build in both the ap and real life. I had hoped one of them would come clean about the ap and the perceived other person, but I think the way it resolved was better. It was fun to have so many well-developed side characters and made me want to keep reading to see if they get their HEA’s as well.

Book 2

Nailed by K.M. Neuhold

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Stone’s antics could be a bit much but watching him break down Dare’s defenses and seeing them fall in love was a sweet ride. This is definitely a grumpy-sunshine match. Dare has a lot of baggage, and Stone is just a man child, but somehow, they come around and make it work. I like how it connected to the characters in the first book as well.

Book 3

Hardwood by K.M. Neuhold

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Single Dad Everett has a big secret. He is just coming around to accept that he himself is gay. While he is figuring this out, he meets and falls in love with Wats. He hides his relationship in a misguided attempt to save his ex-wife’s feelings. I understand wanting to come out to her first, but he took a LONG time to do it. I was glad Wats was patient with him, but I think most people would have walked away. I felt bad for his ex, but I understood how he was trying to protect her. I was so happy when he finally came out and everyone accepted him. His daughter is adorable and adds a layer of sweetness to the book.

Book 4

Screwed by K.M. Neuhold

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Throughout the other books, you see Ollie struggle to find his happily ever after. Getting hitched to terrible matches in Vegas seems to be his thing. So, when he wakes up at this brother’s bachelor weekend in Vegas married to his soon to be brother-in-law’s best friend, I groaned. What starts as a dare ends up being so much more. Ollie falls hard for his new hubby, but it’s supposed to be pretend. What he doesn’t know, is hubs has fallen for him too. I was SO happy to see Ollie FINALLY get his happily ever after.

Book 5

Stud by K.M. Neuhold

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I liked this book, but it was frustrating that he took so long to admit his feelings. It felt like he was stringing West along.

This book didn’t keep my attention like the previous four, and I paused the series for a while after reading this one.

Learning Curves by Molly O’Hare

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This rom com definitely hits the mark! I laughed so hard I cried. Toss in the steamy scenes, the bold best friend, the crazy parents and it’s a cast of characters you do not want to miss!

I loved this book. I have children with learning disabilities, and I felt my whole mama bear rear up during parts of this book. I don’t think I have laughed so hard while reading in a LONG time!

Super Spicy

Worthy by Stella Moore

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Oh lord, this hit all the buttons. As a larger lady myself, I related to Kit in so many ways. Feeling worthy can definitely be a struggle. Austin handled it beautifully. Definitely a 5 star from me. Thanks to Golden Angel and Tiktok for recommending it.

Her Shadows, His Secrets by C.C. Monroe

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Holy angst. As a curvy girl with PCOS I related to Hanna in many ways. The way Theo showed her love and how to love herself, while over the top sometimes, was beautiful and just what she needed.

Shared Relationship

Nanny for the Firemen by Cassie Cole

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Clara feels lost and stuck in a rutt. The highlight of her week I delivering pizza to three hunky fireman. Add in a surprise baby they care for under wraps, and sexual tension through the roof. I wasn’t sure I’d like this one, but by the end I was smiling and cheering them on

Dark Ink by Lainey Delaroque

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Tanya has worked so hard to escape her past, and now she must confront it. I LOVED this story. I always wondered what happened to Tanya in the other stories, and now… wow. That’s all I can say. This book has so much raw emotion coming from so many angles. It is amazing! The way the author weaves the characters and story line together keeps you guessing and rooting for them to have their aha moments! Great read!

Sweet Romance with a Magical Twist

Bewitching Andie by Candace Colt

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Andie is a single mom doing her best. She heads for the support of her grandma and Baga Shores. Not counting on finding love in the process of finding herself, she is on a wild ride. I love her grandma, and her mom is wacky, but the bond they share… I wont give anything away. I loved this magical romance. Can’t wait for book 2 of the Baga Shores Story.

Sweet Clean Romance

The Swan & the Phoenix: A Once Upon Academy Duet by Kerry Evelyn

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Loved this magical story of friendship and love. Siblings putting aside differences to accomplish a goal. True love overcomes all things.

Carmen Cook Sapphire Falls Series

Book 1

Coming In Hot by Carmen Cook

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Ack! I LOVED this. A little but second chance, a little bit alpha hero, a whole lot of HELL YES! Reagan is finding herself, determined to bounce back after a bad divorce. Gavin is blown away by the girl he couldn’t quite forget. Throw in some intense moments, drug dealers, stalkers, and wrap it up with friendship and laughter and I felt like I could be sitting with old friends watching the Snow Bowl drinking spiked hot chocolate. Seriously great read!

Coming Around: A Sapphire Creek Novella by Carmen Cook

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Bethany was a doll in Book 1 Coming in Hot. I loved getting this window into Bethany and Connor. What a love story.

Book 2

Coming Home by Carmen Cook

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Erin and Zach are perfect for each other. Their chemistry off the charts, but even more is their connection. The suspense kept me turning pages, and I have to say, I was surprised by the ending. I love this series and look forward to more from this author!

Coming Back by Carmen Cook

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

A sweet second chance novella. Dee is a single mom figuring out life. She certainly doesn’t expect to run into the man she spent the best night of her life with. Bas hasn’t been able to stop thinking about her since that night and wants a second chance. If you’ve read any of the other Sapphire Falls series, you will already have a soft spot for Deeana. I loved this sweet second chance romance and Bas is a man with a huge heart!
