August: The End of Summer and Orlando Reads Books

August was another scorching month in Texas. Coming from Florida, I figured the heat would be about the same. NOPE! Florida is like a living in a sauna. Texas on the other hand is like living in a baking oven. Not as humid, but certainly still too dang hot!

I do LOVE August though, because I get to attend Orlando Reads Books in Orlando, Fl. This is an AMAZING event put on by my dear friend Mandie Stevens. Her hard work and dedication to the authors and the readers make this event so fun.

Industry days start out the conference, and there is absolutely something for everyone! This year’s topics covered Author Helper Suite, Tiktok, Facebook Ads, Plottr, and so much more! I was thrilled to be able to take part in these workshops. As a writer, I gain invaluable insight, but as a personal assistant, it helps me continue to grow my skills to better help the authors I work with.

ORB 2023 is already shaping up to be an amazing event. Friday night will be an author/reader Masquerade Ball. Saturday night’s theme hasn’t been announced yet, but if it’s anything like past events, I know it will be so much fun.

If you have not had a chance to check out a book con near you, I highly suggest it. As a reader, you get to meet so many new authors face to face. If you are in the industry in any way, it helps you network and grow your skill set.

Will I see you at ORB in 2023?
